Fiserv Wins Above and Beyond Award from Wisconsin Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve

April 4, 2008

BROOKFIELD, Wis., Apr 04, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Fiserv Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV), a leading provider of information technology services to the financial industry, today announced it has won an "Above and Beyond Award" from the Wisconsin Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency. The award recognizes employers at the state level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements for granting leave and providing support for military duty by their employees.

A Fiserv employee for 13 years, Sergeant Major Raymond Stitz of the 3rd Army Area Support Group in Qatar, nominated Fiserv for the support he received on two deployments to the Middle East, one for 18 months in 2005-2006 to Kuwait and the one he is on currently until next January in Qatar.

"The one thing that has remained constant through these deployments has been the support that I have received from Fiserv," explain Stitz from Qatar. "Whether it was the tremendous send off they gave me, or the constant emails, cards and care packages they provided me during this and the prior deployment, Fiserv has truly kept me part of their life. But the thing that meant the most to me was when I came back to work, it was as if Fiserv gave me a big hug. They truly made me feel welcome. Fiserv is a shining example of how this program should work."

Stitz, associate conversion/installation analyst in the Electronic Funds Transfer division in Morris Plains, New Jersey, called Fiserv his extended family, going above and beyond what is required by law.

Fiserv, founded in 1984, instituted a new practice when the Iraq War began to secure the jobs of employees who were members of the National Guard and Reserve. The Fiserv policy is more generous in many ways than the law that passed in 1994, the Uniform Service Employment and Rights Reemployment Act, to protect the jobs and benefits of service men and women.

"We wanted to help our employees in the military, simply because we knew it was the right thing to do," said Julie Gabelmann, president, Fiserv Bank Products. "We thought it was our duty not only to help employees, like Ray, but to give emotional support to their families who are back here at home. We are honored to receive this award. Fiserv is founded on the principle that 'our people make the difference.' They are not only making a difference for our company but for our country as well."

Gabelmann will accept the Above and Beyond Award on behalf of Fiserv at the Wisconsin ESGR's Annual Banquet on April 5th in Green Lake, Wisconsin.
