Brookfield, Wis., April 30, 2009 - Fiserv, Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV), the leading global provider of financial services technology solutions, has named Thomas M. Cypher the 2008 Fiserv Business Unit Executive of the Year. Cypher is president of Fiserv's Lincoln, Neb.-based Bank Solutions group, formerly known as Information Technology, Inc. (ITI). Founded in Lincoln in 1976 and acquired by Fiserv in 1995, ITI changed its name to Fiserv on February 23 as part of a completed Fiserv rebranding initiative.

As president of one of Fiserv's top performing businesses Cypher led the organization to exceed its sales targets and performance metrics for 2008, despite challenges in the marketplace. This recognition was the first such award given under the newly integrated Fiserv name.

Cypher began his career with the company in 2001 as head of Research and Development. In 2004 he was named president of what was then known as ITI, now part of the Bank Solutions Group at Fiserv. The businesses comprehensive suite of integrated software and services is used by more than a third of America's financial institutions, from start-up banks to those with billions in assets. Fiserv has 20,000 employees in offices across the globe, including more than 700 on its campus in Lincoln.

A Lincoln native, Cypher spent his teen years in Northern Ireland before returning to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Prior to joining Fiserv, Cypher spent much of his career overseas, managing information technology organizations and advising international companies, universities and governments. His work has taken him throughout North Africa, the Eastern Mediterranean, Afghanistan, Pakistan and most of the Persian Gulf.
