Berkeley Heights location reflects Fiserv commitment to sustainability

BROOKFIELD, Wis – November 20, 2023Fiserv (NYSE: FI), a global technology leader in payments and fintech, announced today that it has received a LEED Platinum certification in recognition of the sustainable design, construction and operations practices at the Innovation Center @ The Park, its fintech hub located at 100 Connell Drive in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey.

LEED, or Leadership in Energy in Environmental Design, is the world’s most widely used green building rating system. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, the system and provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings.

“Built as a physical representation of the Fiserv brand, the Innovation Center @ The Park creates an environment that fosters collaboration and drives excellence while exemplifying sustainability,” said Frank Bisignano, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fiserv. “This achievement represents the innovation, ingenuity and intentional design required to create positive and lasting impact. We continue to pursue an ambitious approach to sustainability initiatives, are we are proud to earn a Platinum LEED certification as a proof point of our success.”

LEED certifications are earned through credits that address carbon, energy, water, waste, transportation, materials, health and indoor environmental quality.

The state-of-the-art Innovation Center was designed to create a lasting impact with green building principles in mind. The building boasts features that contribute directly to its certification through:

  • Water Efficiency: Advanced plumbing designs and sensor-controlled, touchless water sources reduce water use throughout the building.
  • Energy and Atmosphere: Advanced energy modeling including solar panels and LED sensor-controlled lighting provide the building with renewable energy.
  • Materials and Resources: The building features post-consumer, vinyl-backed carpeting and furniture produced using recycled content. Waste is responsibly disposed, recycled or composted.
  • Indoor Environmental Quality: Through low-emitting VOC materials like paints and cleaners, the location was recognized for superior indoor air quality.
  • Innovation: On-site food production – including an herb garden – contribute to the site’s sustainability.

“LEED certification demonstrates leadership in sustainability,” said Peter Templeton, president and CEO of U.S. Green Building Council. “The Innovation Center @ The Park is an excellent example of how companies like Fiserv can make a difference in our communities and the globe by providing access to healthy, green and high performing buildings.”

The Innovation Center @ The Park is the largest single Fiserv office location in the U.S. based on square footage and number of associates, and is one of the largest fintech hubs on the East Coast. The campus serves as the company’s strategic center of excellence for technology and product innovation. It is the only property in New Jersey in its building category to earn a LEED Platinum rating this year.

Fiserv adds Platinum LEED-certified to its impressive list of growing accolades for its Innovation Center @ The Park. Earlier this year, Fiserv was honored by the NAIOP, a commercial real estate development organization, with the Deal of the Year Transformation Award; and the United Way of Northern New Jersey honored the company with their Commercial Impact Award.

Fiserv is proud to operate other LEED-certified buildings across the globe, in New York at 1 Broadway, in Dublin, Ireland at 10 Hanover Quay, and in Buenos Aires, Argentina at Torre Della Paolera 200, all of which have been certified as LEED Gold.
